Markels Roberts' artistic skills first developed with clay sculpture. When introduced
to glass as an expressive medium, she became fascinated with the way the
colors and layers of glass converge, mysteriously creating a unique visual
wonder. Coupled with hand-formed sterling, each piece realizes its ultimate
completion only when it and its wearer come together.
Markels'
grandmother, head of Women's Wardrobe at MGM studios for 25 years, and
her mother, a costumer, dressed actors and actresses on the movie set.
Markels' pleasure in adorning people with jewelry came from watching them
at their work. Markels' artistic goal is to instill a sense of emotional
happiness and genuine intrigue in those who see her work or wear it. She
wishes to be uplifting and, thereby, add some color to life. You can see
